As a seasoned real estate broker and the owner of Pangburn Properties, Inc., I bring a unique life experience to the Register of Deeds not seen in that office for at least three decades. As someone who has served the people of Newaygo County in their real estate needs for nearly thirty years, I would be honored to bring my experience in management, technology, and of course real estate to the Register of Deeds office.
Safeguard Our Property Rights
Bill after Bill has been introduced by the House, passed by the Senate and codified by the Governor.
Each and every day we risk losing more and more of our property rights as seen by the stripping away of local control to the state over wind and solar fields.
As your next Newaygo County Register of Deeds, I will fight for our property rights at the State and local level and find ways to protect our property rights from Government overreach.
Stop The Purchase Of Newaygo County Property By Foreigners
Green Township in Mecosta County has put up a hard fight to keep the CCP owned Gotion Battery plant out of their township. Their concern over clear cutting, mineral and water extraction, contamination and much more with our Governor's green light is cause for their concerns.
The State has encouraged foreign purchases and has helped facilitate funds for the development. This is very concerning to me. With over 3000 CCP owned businesses currently in Michigan, I fear if the State does not enact laws to prevent this, we will face dire consequences in the near term.
Protecting Newaygo County property from being purchased by foreign owners and foreign entities is paramount to the betterment of Newaygo County. I will do whatever I can to ensure lands, minerals and water do not end up in the hands of foreigners.
Stop Property Theft
Every day property thieves are stealing our property. They steal our identity and pull out a loan in your name against your property.
The State has failed to act to safeguard us from property theft. Although a Property Fraud Alert system has been implemented at the Register of Deeds office, the problem is, the theft has already occurred.
I will join arms with other County Register of Deeds offices, legislators, and technology providers to find ways to stop this theft prior to reaching the Register of Deeds office for recording. Hopefully putting an end to property theft entirely.
Improved Technology
The Newaygo County Register of Deeds has been utilizing the same document search platform for the past 20 plus years. The current software program is a dinosaur. It's difficult to use and does not work well on cell phones.
Surrounding counties have implemented some of the latest technology for their document search platforms likely by utilizing the Automation Fund established in 2003. These platforms are user friendly and cell phone compatible.
Deficiencies in the Newaygo County Document Search platform are apparent. To better serve the consumer, I will utilize the Automation Fund established in 2003 to provide the consumer with a state of the art Document Search platform that is user friendly and cell phone compatible.
Lower Fees And Higher Quality
As a real estate broker, I've had the pleasure of utilizing various Document Search platforms from surrounding counties. Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon to name a few. Their platforms utilize modern technology, are user friendly and cell phone compatible, yet their fees to download documents are significantly less than those charged in Newaygo County.
As a Register of Deeds, I believe it is not only the responsibility of the Register to safeguard our records, it is also the responsibility of the Register to ensure the consumer is not being overcharged for services offered while supplying them with the best available quality.
With this adherence, providing the best quality to the consumer without overcharging for the service, I will make it a priority to find a provider who's fees are more inline with those charged by neighboring counties.
